About Us

We are a Christian based 501(c)(3) non-profit working to save and transform lives through the gospel of Jesus Christ.  We were founded by Rev. Deborah Cofer - President of Streams in the Desert International, Inc.  We are dedicated to saving orphaned, abandoned and neglected children and widows in India. We provide shelter, nutritious food, clothing and education in a safe and loving environment for 125 children and 51 widows.  We are providing everything needed to launch the children into a hopeful future! Our ministry is unique because every dollar that is donated is able to go directly to funding ministry. Streams in the Desert Ministries has grown significantly in the last few years to reach many parts of our community. We continue to run our Hope Homes but have also reached out to care for many of “Untouchable” Villages outside of our city, as well as for our neighbors in the leper communities.

India is home to over 20 million orphaned children and an estimated 40 million widowed women. The need for help can be overwhelming, and hope for those in these situations can seem minimal at best. Our mission is to live out the mission of Jesus by caring for those who are otherwise neglected and left to fend for themselves. Over the years God’s work through our dreams has manifested itself in many ways. Our goal is to follow His lead as we navigate how to best serve our community.

“Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.”

— Isaiah 1:17
