Our india Story.

A story of faith the size of a mustard seed.

8 years ago in india, a Beautiful story began…

Hi, I am Deborah Cofer, Founder and President of Streams in the Desert International, Inc. a 501(c)3 non profit established in 2012.

Several years ago I was invited to minister in India. While I was there, I saw starving people, dirty children, barefoot women, diseases, and  overwhelming poverty.  It made me cry.  I saw a city that was in desperate need of the Lord Jesus Christ.  In finding a way to cope with the pain, I challenged myself to look for the good. I focused on the beauty of the people.  The Indian women are so beautiful and feminine in their vibrant sari’s.  The children are precious.  Everything was colorful and a delight to my eye.  Even the trucks were adorned in splashes of yellow, oranges, greens and purples.  I quickly fell in love with India, it’s beautiful people, color, and it’s creative ingenuity. Oh, and I love the wonderful food! I love the Indian people with all of my heart.

It was both the pain and the beauty that I saw on this trip that inspired me to reach out through Streams in the Desert International. Since the outreach began , I started working with a beautiful Christian woman named Mrudula. She has a strong passion to serve her people in any way she can.  Her vision is amazing and her spirit indomitable.  Since our founding, we have continued to follow the Lord’s leading and grow into many different areas of helping the community. We have three hope homes, which house over 125 children and 51 widows, we house and care for the local Leper community, and we support many small churches and their pastors in villages surrounding this city. We also support 60 very poor women learning to sew. We are so thankful for the way that the Lord has blessed this ministry. We look hopefully into the future because we believe that God will continue to guide our ministry towards advancing the work of His kingdom in India. To Him be the Glory, and the Honor, forever and ever.
